Localization Cues, Distortions from Cochlear Implants and Attempts to Fix Them - Disclosure

Course Description

This course provided attendees the opportunity to learn more about cochlear implants. Attendees learned about sound localization in typical acoustic hearing. They were able to learn about localization error patterns and interaural distortions in order to explain poor spatial-hearing benefits.

Elements of Competence

Interview of the combined staff among UW-Madison speech language pathologists and audiologists and identified a need for education in understanding the successes and challenges that cochlear implants offer.

Objectives

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Summarize horizontal-plane sound localization cues in typical acoustic hearing
2. Explain localization error patterns
3. Apply knowledge of interaural distortions to explain poor spatial-hearing benefits

Method of Participation

The estimated time to complete this online activity and exam is 1 hour(s). To receive credit, a passing grade of 100% is required on a short online quiz. You will have opportunities to retake the quiz to achieve a passing score. After you have completed your exam and evaluation you will be able to automatically print your credit letter.
